Episode #260: "A Ghost prequel... But with planes and no pottery" | Always (1989)

Always came out before Ghost, but so many people have never heard of it much less seen it. But see it you should... in some ways it has more heart than the more popular movie that came out a year later.
Just ignore the fact that I might have accidentally said that Ted Danson was in Ghost somewhere in this episode. It's still Patrick Swayze. I blame too much work and sleep deprivation.

Episode #258: "Your journey nears its end" | The Rise of Skywalker D23 Trailer

We couldn't get the band together for an 80s movie discussion this week, but we all know if a Star Wars trailer comes out and John doesn't have a chance to talk about it, he explodes like a womprat being bulls-eyed by a moisture farmer in his T-16 back home. (And they're not much bigger than 2 meters.) Anyway... here's John's take on the D23 sneak peak we got and what it means for the upcoming final installment of the Skywalker saga. Needless to say... SPOILERS and speculation abound.

Episode #256: "Blush & Bashful" | Steel Magnolias (1989)

Men are supposed to be made of steel, but Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, and Julia Roberts are the true strength of their families in this adaptation of the stage play Steel Magnolias. As the trailer's tagline puts it, "it's the funniest movie that will make you cry."
